Of throbbing toes and a happy boy
For the one regular reader of this blog…sorry I havent written in a while. I’ve started going to a cricket camp daily, from 6 to 9am, and I come back and sleep most of the day to make up for all the pains and aches that come with putting my terribly inflexible body through the rigors of three hour cricket practice. Thats where the throbbing toes come in; I got myself new cricket shoes, and coupled with the new bowling action I’ve been told to try, my toes become blue and painful on a regular basis. Along with an aching back and my perenially sprained ankle (thanks, Nabil..grr), it makes for a pretty beat up vivek.
It’s all worth it though. Cricket is making me finally get out of my rut, atleast on a temporary basis. Apart from having a stready gf, cricket I think is the only thing that keeps me happy. Actually, talking to Princess daily also really helps. Somehow, my day isnt complete without atleast one long conversation with her. She’s also opening up a bit lately…more about that in a later post. Anyways, playing cricket again was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a life full of wrong decisions at every turn.
Im also getting to meet some fun people at the cricket camp. This was the same place I first went for cricket coaching in 8th grade, and since then, apparently it’s become a favorite fitness place of important people Hyderabad. On Thursday, I bowled to the Assistant Commisioner of Police of the city, basically one of the top cops of Hyd. He likes to come in once a week to bat for a couple of hrs., and I made him bowled (the equivalent of struck-out in baseball) like 5 times. He told me I was faster than the other bowlers; all the while I was thinking “Shouldn’t he be helping weed out criminals right now, or something?”.
Last couple of days, I’ve been bowling to the Google team. They’re a bunch of cool guys, and apparently they’re working on the AdWords project. They offered to take a look at my resume and call me in for an interview, but I figure I’ll keep it as a back-up incase things dont work out with Citibank.
Like I said, going back to cricket is looking to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made…atleast till something comes by to burst the bubble, like it always does. Oh well…I’ll enjoy the ride till then.
Later…
